Oh, and he paid James Michener his first money for writing. Apparently, Michener liked the idea of getting paid to write and later went on to make a bit of a name for himself doing just that.




  1. Man, I hope he gets his novel published! Young, hip record producers have “discovered” the still viable talents of some of our older artists (think Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Tony Bennett) – why can’t some young, hip publisher figure out how to polish this old gem?

  3. What an inspiration. I hope his book gets published. He should definitely write a memoir. His life story is fascinating.
